WSA-players on the rise

There was good news for some players of the Werner Schlager Academy after their success at the World Team Championships in Tokyo (Japan). The latest Men and Women ITTF World ranking is published yet.

While the Portuguese flagship and "No 1"of the Academy, Marcos Freitas, stays in high spheres (note: position 13), his compatriot João Monteiro was able to climb nine places to rank 47. However, by far the biggest jump in the rankings was done by the No. 1 of Italy: Mihai Bobocica. The World Team Championships was in several respects a great success for the Romanian-born: not only the halving of his ranking (note: from 116 to 58) but also the promotion to the first division was realized with the 27-year-old and the Italian team. There are also Austrian # 1 Robert Gardos (No. 30), the Russian champion Alexander Shibaev (No. 37), defensive expert Chen Weixing (No. 42), the upcoming Stefan Fegerl (No. 47) and Daniel Habesohn (No. 61) in the ITTF top 100.

The European Singles Champion and SVS Ströck team mate Li Fen jumped improved 10 places to No. 17. Her fellow SVS Ströck team member Daniela Dodean Monteiro (note: wife of João Monteiro) catapulted herself more than a dozen of ranks from number 53 to number 40 of the ITTF. Followed by a further improvement of the Ukrainian Tetyana Bilenko (from 72 to 63) and Petra Lovas at position 79, the SVS Ströck team is completed. The young talent and SVS newcomer Dora Madarasz from Hungary can look forward to a huge boost from just 27 places to rank 86. Together with Austrian Li Qiangbing (No. 91) six considerable WSA-girls are inside the top 100 of the ITTF world rankings right now.
