WSA-Flood of medals in Jekaterinburg

The players of the (inter-)national training group of the Werner Schlager Academy  in Schwechat celebrated big victories at the just finished European Championships.

 

 

 

 

GOLD went to the Austria Men’s Team with Robert Gardos, Stefan Fegerl, Daniel and Dominik Habesohn and Chen Weixing who is also part of the WSA-coaches team. On their way to the historical ECS-triumph, they overcame the defending champion Portugal (3:2) and then overpowered Germany 3:2 in a memorable finale.

 

GOLD went to WSA-players also in the Men’s Double: Stefan Fegerl and his Portuguese partner Joao Monteiro who lives in Schwechat since 5 years now and practices at the WSA, won gold after a thrilling finale and an overcame match-point against the ÖTTV-double Robert Gardos/Daniel Habesohn.

 

SILVER therefore was presented to Robert Gardos/Daniel Habesohn in the Men’s double.

 

SILVER also went to Marcos Freitas (Portugal) who also lives in Schwechat since more than 2 years. He was defeated only in the finale by the German exceptional athlete Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

 

SILVER was also taken home by WSA-player and Neo-mother Daniela Dodean-Monteiro who with her Romanian team fell down in the finale against the overly powerful opponents from Germany. Dodean-Monteiro remained the best player of Romania in the team-event only few months after she gave birth to her first child.

 

BRONZE was secured by WSA-star-player Tetyana Bilenko (SVNÖ Ströck) with the Ukrainian team. The defensive player also satisfied the expectations in the singles event where she managed to reach the round of 16.
