SVS STRÖCK in Champions League semifinal

09.10.2012

Austria's women table tennis champion SVS STRÖCK has reached, for the second time, the semi-final series in the European Champions League.

The WSA partner club has won the preliminary round Group B match at Dr. CASL Zagreb 3-2 and has thus, even before the final two preliminary round games against Budaörsi SC (November 19 in Hungary and on Monday, December 3, 19:00 clock in the Werner Schlager Academy) safetly secured at least second place in the group.

The 3-2 win in Zagreb reflects the very hard work had was required to achieve it. Unfortunately, national champion Li Qiangbing withdrew during their first game against Japan's Mitsuki Yoshida due to a painful neck injury and could therefore not win any of her two mathces.

Therefore Daniela Dodean had to come through and she did with sovereign victories against Lea Rakovac and Mitsuki Yoshida, coupled with player-coach Aya Umemura excellence and ensured the necessary three points.

By reaching the semifinals again SVS STRÖCK has reached the first goal for the season already.

From Group A it should be expected to see Linz-Froschberg and defending champion Berlin eastside in the semi-finals.
