Freitas wins DHS Europe Cup

After victories over WSA colleague Alexander Shibaev and France hope Adrien Mattenet, Freitas completed the perfect week with the title win in Lausanne.

Marcos Freitas , essential part of the Werner Schlager Academy and currently number 15 of the ITTF World Ranking list, since yesterday can call himself DHS Europe Cup winner.


The 25 year old Portuguese from Funchal on the island of Madeira could clearly prevail in the final against the Danish comeback star Michael Maze with 11:7, 11:6, 11:8, 11:7.

Naturally pleased, and with a lot of confidence the new champion of Lausanne statet after the final: “I am happy that I won this tournament, it is easy to play at the top level for one or two months but so far it has been two seasons that I have been able to keep my performances at a high level”, said Marcos Freitas. “I beat all the top players here; now I can set for another goal, now I need to overcome best Chinese players.”


The Werner Schlager Academy congratulates "its number one" to the title in Switzerland and does everything that this has not been the last major title.
