Stefan Fegerl, WSA key player of the first hour, followed up on the impressive winning streak of his training partners and won the doubles title of the ITTF World Tour Kuwait Open alongside the Chinese Lin Gaoyuan.

The Austrian-Chinese prevailed in the final crime over the number two double Chiang Hung-Chieh & Huang Sheng-Sheng from Taiwan with 3:2 (5:11, 11:4, 10:12, 11:3, 11:7).

For Fegerl this was the first title in the current calendar year. With his success in this still so young year the newly crowned Kuwait Open champion is in prominent WSA company: Daniel Habesohn at the Hungarian Open and Marcos Freitas at the DHS Europe Cup in Lausanne could gain the title.

But also the other athletes of the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat impressed in the desert emirate. Thus, João Monteiro, after a strong start (note: 4-1 against Lee Sangsu from South Korea) had to admit defeat in the second round against the tournament winner and rising star from China, Fan Zhendong. With a razor-thin victory over Taiwan double world champion Chuang Chih-Yuan Austria's star player Robby Gardos sensationally reached the round of sixteen. The "number one" of WSA, the Portuguese Marcos Freitas, was able to reach with a lot of confidence and after victories over Simon Gauzy and Bastian Steger the quarterfinals. There, however, he failed against the Chinese top player Yan An (ITTF # 7, January 2014).
