August breaks all records

This August it’s getting hot in Schwechat- not only because of the record-breaking heat that is again forecasted for the next few days and weeks. In fact the air will heat up in the WSA when 90 players burn out themselves completely in their training session. Even though the hall was already fully booked the last weeks, the month of august will break all records.

32 players from the WSA-core-group (men and women) are preparing for the new season in Schwechat. They will be joined by 58 guests from all over the world. Not less than 30 nations are convened in the WSA for the next couple of weeks. Among them such prominent guests as the German-Men-National-Team which arrives without Boll/Ovtcharov and Steger, but in return brings other top-players like Franziska/Filus/Mengel/Duda and Walter as well as some promising young players.

Guests from more exotic table tennis nations like Lebanon will also show their skills in the WSA. With 10 players, the Lebanese group is also one of the biggest.

To provide all athletes with an ideal training, the normal training hours were changed. Instead of 2 sessions (one in the morning/one in the afternoon), there will be 4 sessions in August whereupon the first already starts at 8h30am and the last ends at 7pm. This way it can be ensured that all players are taken care of ideally and the 24 tables in the hall are used efficient at any time.

If you think that after 7pm it gets quiet in the WSA, then you are wrong. The WSA also runs a table-tennis-school in which the whole year ambitious hobby-players are provided with professional training. This group also shouldn’t be missed out in August because after all the championship starts in September for all classes regardless of the playing strength.

Because of the record breaking number of players, August will be a very challenging month for all trainers and staff involved. The fact that they will all keep cool anyway is grounded in the excellent technique of the hall- the WSA is fully climatized.

For the ones who can’t bear the heat outside or the ones who want to experience how impressing it is when an intensive, high-class training takes place on 24 tables at a time, it is best to come to the WSA personally in August. For the ones who don’t have time to do that, we have prepared a little video. However we can’t guarantee a cooling-effect here. As the pictures show: it is getting hot in the WSA :-)
