Opening, Summer 2010
The way I understand it, the WSA is meant to be an International Centre of Competence, based upon the close cooperation of internationally experienced and renowned coaches. Therefore, I am proud and happy to have three of the world’s best coaches on my team from 2010 onwards:
- Mario Amizic has been a successful coach since 1977. He was active in Croatia, Germany, Japan and Russia and worked with first class athletes such as Jörg Rosskopf, Steffen Fetzner, Vladimir Samsonov, Zoran Primorac, Alexei Smirnov, Jun Mizutani, Seiya Kishikawa and Petr Korbel. He has a perfect social network in the world of table tennis and is sporting director of Butterfly.
- Richard Prause was a world class player himself, taking bronze medals in the World and European Championships with the German team. From 1999 onward, he was Bundestrainer (national coach) in Germany. 2000 to 2004 he was Bundestrainer of the women, in 2004 he was named chief coach of the men. Under his guidance, the German Men’s Team with Timo Boll became the number one team in Europe. Then, we managed to get him for the WSA in Austria.
- Dirk Wagner will (until 2010) remain chief coach of the German champions and winners of the Champions-League Borussia Düsseldorf (with Timo Boll and Christian Süß). Together with Mario Amizic, he managed the German Bundesstützpunkt (national center) in Düsseldorf. He will join the WSA’s team of coaches in July 2010.
